Claudia attended the Art Institute of Chicago, where she met her future husband, Eugene. Mrs. Montgomery assisted her husband by posing for various commercial works commissioned by Sears, Roebuck and Co. throughout the country. "My father was doing these murals for Sears and they would be stretched out across the living room, paint on the floor, and she was always so patient about that," her daughter Carolyn said. Mrs. Montgomery took pride in raising the couple's four children and being a "great homemaker" and gardener. Claudia enjoyed painting florals and still lifes. These are examples of her work.
